APAR Error Description / Circumvention

-----------------------------------------------
When a user is modifying a Management Central Job Monitor with
threshold values
higher than 999 and he goes to the metrics tab, the panel stops
responding and the only way to close it is by pressing the
Cancel button.

CORRECTION FOR APAR SE28319 :
-----------------------------
This PTF fixed the reported problem.

CIRCUMVENTION FOR APAR SE28319 :
--------------------------------
None.

DESCRIPTION OF PROBLEM FIXED FOR APAR SE28166 :
-----------------------------------------------
Run SQL Scripts may close unexpectedly when working with the
Analyze function for an SQL Performance Monitor.  Many reports
in the Analyze tool provide a 'Work with SQL' action which opens
Run SQL Scripts.  When the user closes the Run SQL Script window
launched from the report, the
first Run SQL Scripts window and the Analyze tool that it
launched will close after a brief delay.  This only affects a
Run SQL Script window that was launched from the command line or
by double-clicking on an SQL script in Windows Explorer.

CORRECTION FOR APAR SE28166 :
-----------------------------
This PTF fixes the reported problem.

CIRCUMVENTION FOR APAR SE28166 :
--------------------------------
None.

DESCRIPTION OF PROBLEM FIXED FOR APAR SE28143 :
-----------------------------------------------
Some users have CCSID values hardcoded in their application,

but they would like their CCSID values to be overridden by a

better one.

For example the CCSID 300 is an old, unchanging CCSID, where

CCSID 4396 is a newer and growing CCSID. Some users have the

CCSID 300 hardcoded, but they would like to have CCSID 4396

used instead.

CORRECTION FOR APAR SE28143 :
-----------------------------
We are going to provide a way to override a CCSID value. The

override will be only used when CCSID conversions are done.

The override is done using a registry key entry in the string

format oldCCSID,newCCSID.

Under the registry path:

HKLM\Software\IBM\Client Access\CurrentVersion\NLS

you can add the following entry of type string:

Name = "CCSID-Override"

Value= "OldCCSID,newCCSID,oldCCSID,newCCSID,..."

For example:

CCSID-Override = 300,4396

Restart applications for this to take effect.

CIRCUMVENTION FOR APAR SE28143 :
--------------------------------
Applications need to use more up-to-date CCSIDs,

and should move toward using Unicode.

DESCRIPTION OF PROBLEM FIXED FOR APAR SE28860 :
-----------------------------------------------
When creating a new index, a MSGSQL0454 may be displayed stating
that the stored procedure already exists.  This error can occur
if the user launches the New Index dialog from the Index Advisor
and the user chooses to create the index.

CORRECTION FOR APAR SE28860 :
-----------------------------
After this PTF is applied and the first time the user tries to
create the index again using the same name, they may get an
error when trying to create the index.  This is because a
temporary QAUGDBIX_xxxxx procedure may still exist in the same
library/schema as this index's library/schema.  However, the
next time the user tries to create the index it should work
because the temporary procedure will be deleted for the user.

CIRCUMVENTION FOR APAR SE28860 :
--------------------------------
There are some ways to circumvent the problem:
1) Delete any procedures named QAUGDBIX_xxxxx and try to create
the index again.  Where xxxxx is the SQL name of the table.
Note that the procedure is created in the same library/schema
that the index is created.
2)Change the index name in the dialog and try to create the
index again.

DESCRIPTION OF PROBLEM FIXED FOR APAR SE28988 :
-----------------------------------------------
Using iSeries Navigator, a MSGCPF3219 is displayed when trying
to start a new reorganize over a table.  This is possible if the
user selects reorganize a table, but there is a previous
reorganize to the same table and it is suspended.  Then if the
user answered No to the "start a new reorganize" message dialog
instead of resume the previously initialized one, and then
pressed OK to start the new reorganize, they may see the error
message.

CORRECTION FOR APAR SE28988 :
-----------------------------
This PTF fixes the reported problem.

CIRCUMVENTION FOR APAR SE28988 :
--------------------------------
Based on the information the MSGCPF3219 is displayed, you need
to run the following:
DROP INDEX QRECOVERY.QDBRIxxxxx

Where the xxxxx is a set of digits, the same as the number part
of the file name related in the error message.  Once the index
is dropped, try the new reorganize over the table.

DESCRIPTION OF PROBLEM FIXED FOR APAR SE28989 :
-----------------------------------------------
When trying to get the indexes advised from a Materialized Query
Table (MQT), the iSeries Navigator may display more entries than
expected.  It shows the indexes advised for all the tables and
MQTs in the same schema as the Materialized Query Table
selected.  This happens with the 'Index Advisor' and 'CONDENSE
ADVISED INDEXES' options from the MQT's context menu.

CORRECTION FOR APAR SE28989 :
-----------------------------
This PTF fixes the reported problem.

CIRCUMVENTION FOR APAR SE28989 :
--------------------------------
None.

DESCRIPTION OF PROBLEM FIXED FOR APAR SE28443 :
-----------------------------------------------
The iSeries Access for Windows OLEDB providers do not ignore
leading spaces in the SQL statement or command text when using
it for a connection to iSeries through a SQL linked server when
using a select statement for open query. This causes the OLEDB
provider to not execute the statement or command text when it
is preceded by tabs, carriage returns and line feed characters
and the following error:

Msg 7357, Level 16, State 2, Line 1
Cannot process the object
Select * From <Library>". The OLE DB provider "IBMDASQL" for
linked server "<Linkded Server>" indicates that either the
object has no columns or the current user does not have
permissions on that object.

CORRECTION FOR APAR SE28443 :
-----------------------------
This PTF fixes the reported problem.

CIRCUMVENTION FOR APAR SE28443 :
--------------------------------
None.

DESCRIPTION OF PROBLEM FIXED FOR APAR SE29155 :
-----------------------------------------------
Trying to show the explainable statements over a table's advised
index where the table name is delimited, you may get no
statements in the SQL Plan Cache Statements dialog, even though
there are statements that reference the table.

CORRECTION FOR APAR SE29155 :
-----------------------------
This PTF fixes the reported problem only for simple delimited
names as outlined, such as tables named "my table", "my \
table", etc.  The entries in the Show Statements dialog are now
shown for that table.

CIRCUMVENTION FOR APAR SE29155 :
--------------------------------
None.

DESCRIPTION OF PROBLEM FIXED FOR APAR SE29303 :
-----------------------------------------------
iSeries Navigator help is not displayed when the Windows user

is not a member of the administrators group. On Windows Vista,

this help is not displayed even for members of the

administrators group.

DESCRIPTION OF PROBLEM FIXED FOR APAR SE28732 :
-----------------------------------------------
After installing iSeries Access Service Pack SI26600, a

customer creates an external program with Visual Basic 6.

This program creates an instance of type PCOMM.autECLSession

(autsess.dll).  While the program is running the first time,

no problem exists and the performance is fine.

After ending this external program, iSeries Access PC5250

sessions run very slowly.  This situation is worsened by

starting and ending the external program again.  This problem

can be solved by uninstalling the service pack SI26600.

CORRECTION FOR APAR SE28732 :
-----------------------------
This PTF fixes the reported problem.

CIRCUMVENTION FOR APAR SE28732 :

DESCRIPTION OF PROBLEM FIXED FOR APAR SE28749 :
-----------------------------------------------
Using the Run SQL Scripts (RSS) window in iSeries Navigator, a
user may see the Run SQL Scripts application hang.  It is
possible when the SQL Statement being executed has errors and
Run SQL Scripts tries to highlight the block of the statement
that might be causing the error.

This problem is more prevalent with 64-bit platforms than with
32-bit.

CORRECTION FOR APAR SE28749 :
-----------------------------
This PTF fixes the reported problem.

CIRCUMVENTION FOR APAR SE28749 :
--------------------------------
Uncheck the 'Stop on Error' option in the Options menu in Run
SQL Script window.  Run the script.  If the script has errors,
the execution will not stop, however the message will be logged
in the Messages tab.

DESCRIPTION OF PROBLEM FIXED FOR APAR SE28767 :
-----------------------------------------------
When cwbping is run using the /serv parameter, it appears to

convert the service name entered to all lowercase letters.  If

the service name defined in the service table on the iSeries

server contains any uppercase letters, cwbping fails to find

the port number for the service.  Since it cannot find the

port to try to connect to, cwbping fails.  One example is the

service called as-WebFacing.  When the following command is

run:

cwbping systemname /serv:as-WebFacing

the following messages are displayed indicating the failure:

E - CWBCO1011 - Remote port could not be resolved

E - CWBCO1008 - Unable to connect to server application

as-webfacing, returned 8407

CORRECTION FOR APAR SE28767 :
-----------------------------
This PTF fixes the reported problem.

CIRCUMVENTION FOR APAR SE28767 :
--------------------------------
If you know the port number of the service you are using cwbping

to verify connectivity of, run cwbping using the /port option

instead of the /serv option, specifying the correct port.

Alternatively, modify the service table on the iSeries server.

You can either add a new entry, or a new alias to the existing

entry, that is all lowercase.

DESCRIPTION OF PROBLEM FIXED FOR APAR SE28893 :
-----------------------------------------------
The failure described in APAR SE27644, where a CPIAD06 invalid
password error is generated in the QTVDEVICE job if an iSeries
Access for Windows PC5250 session configured for Bypass Signon
and Auto-reconnect reconnects after a communications failure,
still occurs even with PTFs SI26600 (V5R3) or SI26879 (V5R4)
applied. The problem only still occurs if there are multiple
sessions open.

CORRECTION FOR APAR SE28893 :
-----------------------------
This PTF fixes the reported problem.

CIRCUMVENTION FOR APAR SE28893 :
--------------------------------
None.

DESCRIPTION OF PROBLEM FIXED FOR APAR SE28940 :
-----------------------------------------------
A printer session is setup to use the esc_p.pdt. After install

of service pack level SI24723, SI25949, or SI26879, printer

performance was slower.

CORRECTION FOR APAR SE28940 :
-----------------------------
This PTF fixes the reported problem.

CIRCUMVENTION FOR APAR SE28940 :
--------------------------------
None.

DESCRIPTION OF PROBLEM FIXED FOR APAR SE28973 :
-----------------------------------------------
A poor performance was reported in the iSeries Access for
Windows OLEDB provider when a simple statement is executed
using a linked server object in SQL Server 2005 compared with
the ODBC provider. The problem occurs in the IBMDA400 and
IBMDASQL provider as well.

The current behavior of the OLE DB provider to determine how
many rows to block for each fetch is using the cache size. That
is not always the best behavior because applications using ADO
often comes in with a cache size of 1, which kills performace.
To fix that problem, the provider invented in the past a
property called Block Fetch. If Block Fetch is true (default
value), then when the cache size is set to 1, the provider
ignore it, and instead use the default blocking size then the
provider don't send any blocking value to the i5/OS. If Block
Fetch is true and cache size is anything other than 1, the
provider uses cache size. That can also be a bad decision,
because SQL Server usually sets cache size to a small value
affecting performance also.
If Block Fetch is false, the provider always use cache size.

CORRECTION FOR APAR SE28973 :
-----------------------------
To enable applications to have more control over how much data

is transferred from the i5/OS during read operations, support

is added for a new property called "Block Size". This is a

property completely controlled by the end user, so the OLE DB

provider will now block the data based in the value set in this

property by the consumer.

Block Size

Specifies the number of Kilobytes to fetch data from the i5/OS.

Settings and Return Values:

Sets or returns a 4-byte unsigned integer indicating the number

of Kilobytes for fetching data. The default value is 0 and

indicates that the default i5/OS block size will be used.

Notes:

a) The Block Size property only applies to applications using

SQL statements.

Remarks:

This custom property is available on the ADO connection object.

The property is read/write when the connection is closed and

read-only when the connection is open.

CIRCUMVENTION FOR APAR SE28973 :
--------------------------------
None.

DESCRIPTION OF PROBLEM FIXED FOR APAR SE29092 :
-----------------------------------------------
Microsoft Excel is run.  A PC5250 session is started. The user

uses the copy function in Excel to copy data from Excel to the

clipboard.  The copy function is then used in the PC5250

session.  Message PCSERR101 is issued.  This problem appears

to occur when using some code pages, such as 1390/1399, but

not others.

CORRECTION FOR APAR SE29092 :
-----------------------------
This PTF fixes the reported problem.

CIRCUMVENTION FOR APAR SE29092 :
--------------------------------
None.

DESCRIPTION OF PROBLEM FIXED FOR APAR SE29198 :
-----------------------------------------------
There were added some custom properties to the R540 iSeries

Access for Windows OLE DB provider . When you attempt to set

one of these custom properties through the "provider string"

field using a Linked Server object In a 64-bit Microsoft

Windows environment, it results in an error message (Microsoft

SQL Server, Error:7303), this normally happens when you have

incorrect authentication credentials OR there is an invalid

property defined. For example trying to create a Linked Server

in Microsoft SQL Server 2005 with the LIBRARY LIST custom

property will result in an Error:7303 message in SQL Server.

These same properties work fine in 32-bit Microsoft Windows

environment with the iSeries Access for Windows 32-bit OLE DB

providers.

CORRECTION FOR APAR SE29198 :
-----------------------------
This PTF fixes the reported problem.

CIRCUMVENTION FOR APAR SE29198 :
--------------------------------
None.

DESCRIPTION OF PROBLEM FIXED FOR APAR SE29223 :
-----------------------------------------------
When a software inventory is exported from Management Central
using iSeries Navigator, the Licence Key Expiration Date value
is not correctly exported. However the properties displayed for
a software product have the correct information in the Licence
