Activate a switch feature
Step 1 of 2: Planning information
Please have the following information ready to obtain your key.
This information is confidential; the email address will only be used to email the license key to you as a backup.
A transaction key along with a valid switch WWN or LID is used to generate a license key that can be applied on the switch to activate new features
Step 2 of 2: Unlock the feature
The site will return the exact license key that your switch needs along with installation instructions. Please follow the instructions to install the license key and immediately take advantage of new features.
(*) The switch World-Wide Name (WWN) or License ID can be obtained in several ways:
- Connect to the switch CLI either through a console, Telnet, or SSH connection. From the CLI, login as a user admin
and provide your switch password. To find the WWN or License ID of the switch:
For FOS-based switches, use the "licenseidshow" command:
If the "licenseidshow" command is not available in FOS you can also find the WWN using the "switchshow" command:
- Use your web browser to connect to Web Tools to find the WWN of the switch and manage licensing. After logging into Web Tools using admin
credentials click on "Switch Admin" to bring up the Switch Administration screen.
From the Switch Administration screen you will see the WWN of the switch displayed along with a "License" tab that you can use to manage licensing.
- The switch WWN is also printed on a pull out tab accessible from the front the switch
If you have forgotten your password when logging into the switch to get the WWN, the default login is user "admin" with password "password". Try the default to log in. If that does not work, contact your switch administrator for the correct password.
